SPILLS ON RUGS
Hi Everyone,
As we approach the Festive Season, when we entertain and enjoy family and friends many of us wonder if there will be any spills or potential damage to our Exclusive Handmade Rugs in our living rooms and under our dining tables.
The best way to enjoy our treasures is to simply enjoy them and the better the quality of the Handmade Persian and Modern Carpet the less we have to worry.
We should simply act immediately if we have a colourful spill. When I say colourful I mean a liquid with natural dyes such as the theaflavins in hot tea. This can dye the wool if it is hot and left on the Modern and/ or Persian Rug. However, if you grab a spoon and scoop up as much as you can immediately then dab as much as you can off the Persian Carpet with a colourless towel it is likely to not have an effect.
If you don’t notice the spill immediately then try dabbing, then get a damp colourless cloth and scrub over the spill followed by drying in the direction of the pile with another clean colourless towel.
If there is general food waste on the carpet then it is ideal to vacuum it off before people start walking on and spreading the food around the Rug.
The other recommendation I have is to make sure you have itemised your Handmade Modern Rugs and Persian Carpets in your Accidental Damage Contents Insurance Policy because insurers treat them like jewellery so they need to be itemised before making a claim.
In conclusion, putting a plastic sheet over your carpets and making guests feel uncomfortable is not the intention of a High-Quality Handmade Rug but quite the contrary. The better the quality the less likely the carpet will become dirty and the more traffic it can handle.
